What to Do This Weekend in Buenos Aires
The cool kid agenda for July 16-19
Hey babes! The last few weeks have been so absolutely bonkers with the World Cup taking over our lives, writing this agenda so early in the week has me feeling discombobulated between the past, present and future. Someone call a medic!
The next few days are going to be wilder than ever! On Sunday we face Spain to see who wins the World Cup!!!!!!!!! And to top it all off, Día del Amigo falls on Monday!
Argentina, I love you. You are my most all-encompassing, slightly toxic relationship, but because I am mentally ill I wouldn’t have it any other way! Buen finde para todos :)
July Edition of Bad Converseishon!
Bad Convo, my monthly conversation + networking aperitivo + unintentional group therapy sesh is back on Saturday, July 25 at La Fuerza in Chacarita! This month’s topic is Navigating Uncertainty in Argentina, which is basically an evergreen situation, let’s be honest! I would love to see you there — this event is perfect for locals and foreigners alike who want to socialize in English (and some Spanglish) and meet cool people outside of their regular circle. RSVP now or regret it forever!
Thursday 16 July
Support local artisans and Argentine traditions: Check out Cuero vivo at the CCK (Palacio Libertad) today (and tomorrow)! It includes a craft fair with unique pieces of gaucho leatherwork and braiding! There will be guided tours of the Argentina, un país que se vuelve cuero exhibit, live demonstrations, and more!
Ugh, I love being gay! Don’t miss this film series curated by the inimitable Ilsa Wolf at Casa Brandon! From Sodom to Chemsex creates a dialogue between the LGBTQ+ cinematic archive and time-based media works! It offers a timeless reflection on eroticism as a form of transgression, identity formation, the pursuit of freedom, love, and pleasure! Do not miss this, I swear if you do I will break up with you!
Who’s hungry? Viral burger joint Grasa takes over Bar Ness in Nuñéz tonight! You’ll have three different hamburguesas from which to choose (including a veggie option so calm down), and I feel like if you want to up your social media clout, this is a place to do so! Go early and con hambre!
Friday 17 July
If the stress of the World Cup has you craving the innocence of your childhood, I’ve got a great idea for you! Go to the free screening of Jumanji (1995) at el Recoleta tonight! This classic film, directed by Joe Johnston, is prime Robin Williams and one of my fave young Kirsten Dunst performances! This movie actually kind of scared me when I was young but maybe that’s OK!
Get ahead of the curve and start celebrating Día del Amigo early! Grab your favorite grupo and go to La Matiné by Hay Plan at the Centro Cultural Konex! This edition is aptly named “Amigxs son los amigxs” and I’m sure it’s going to be a grand ole time!
Life is a cabaret, old chum! Channel your inner Liza and check out tonight’s cabaret drag show at Feliza in Almagro! Six artists, all with their own unique styles and charm, will surprise and delight you all night long! Put on your best sequined leotard and get out there!
Do you ever want to go to a party where they only play the best bangers and bops? Same! Thank gay God then for Fiesta Sólo Hits, happening at Frida! - A lineup of hot babes will be taking over the DJ booth, spinning pop, cumbia, and reggaetón! Sounds like the perfect way to spend a night, if you ask me!
OK, more gay parties! Hand over yourselves to a night of salsa queer y perreo vieja escuela! All of this and more at Que salgan las bestias at Puticlú, ft. Salsa Negra — you know el Puti knows how to throw a party, babes!
One last fiesta for those who are too manija for anything else: Camila Isabel and Invertida at Dune Park! Two separate sets that will culminate in a B2B that promises to blow your little socks off! All happening at one of BA’s coolest venues!
Saturday 18 July
Calling all fans of picante: you should 100% join an international hot sauce tasting at Casa Dasein today! Fun for the whole family: At Retiro’s Hotel de Inmigrantes you can (and should) check out the Concierto de la Orquesta de Mandolinas! This event, directed by Daniel Wechler, promises an immersive experience that traces the musical journey of one of history’s most versatile instruments, from Baroque Italy to the tangos of suburban Buenos Aires!
You know I love a pop up! Don’t miss the latest edition of Muy Nuestra’s Cantina Judía pop up with superstar cocineros Machu and Guilad! The menu looks extremely drool-worthy, if you ask me, and if I were you I’d waste no time in booking my spot!
Let the music soothe your soul: check out the mid-year celebration happening in Chacarita with Ensambles at Nempla! The roster includes a bunch of different collabs, including Brit pop, funk and soul! Bye!
Aaaaah! This one is super special: drop everything and head to Acuario in Retiro to witness the debut performance and show by Andre! Precious angel and rey del salón is also a budding superstar, and this is your chance to see him in action! He’ll be performing songs from his forthcoming debut album, with electronic pop, folklore, and classical styles woven together! Se me pianta un lagrimón!
Artlab in Chacarita has another edition of hi-fi listening sessions, this time with Portishead’s debut album Dummy (1994) on vinyl! It will be presented by the one and only Miss Innit, Argentine author of La Canción de Bristol Vol. 1, a poetic documentary about music from England’s South West. Cool, curated, and cultured!
Lesbians, assemble! The third edition of Fiesta Exquisita at El Batacazo is happening tonight and it’s your sapphic duty to be there! Live shows! Tinder in person! Glitter station! What else could you want?!
More plans for Friends’ Day: the C Art Media in Chacarita is hosting a Día del Amigo party by C Baile Fiesta! Featuring performances by Nestor en Bloque, Jambao, El Mago y La Nueva, and Los Charros! I’ll be honest when I say I have no idea who those people are but you probably do, and I love that for you!
Looking for a pista-perfect curation of groovy vinyls and electronic beats? See you at California Klub at Puticlú in Retiro, then! Featuring Mystery Friend and Tina Molotov, it’s going to be another wild night in everyone’s favorite queer dive!
Ooooooh, another good one! Deseo and Vicio Fantasía are teaming up for another edition of their Día del amigo bash! We’re talking eight different DJ’s doing their thing all night long! Pato Mallet and Etta!! Victoria Arena and Loïc! Valence and Signo! Rockets and Agustina Villarazza! See you on the dance floor!
Maybe you’re still not over the release of Confessions II?! I’m sure as hell not! At Guchito in Chacarita, keep the vibes going with RGB House Club ft. Fran Benítez and Tiki! Let down your hair and breathe in the air, it’s good for the soul!
Sunday 19 July
Argentina faces off against Spain at 4pm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ¡Vamos, Argentina! Te quiero ver bicampeón! ¡Es un sentimiento, no puedo parar! I’m going to be honest, it’s 11:30pm on Wednesday night and we’re all drunk at the Obelisco (literally), so I’m not sure which watch parties are confirmed for Sunday! I will leave the ones from last week below, but let’s be honest — every TV in Argentina will be tuned in to the final match. You won’t be able to escape it! Watch at home! Watch with friends at a bar! Watch with strangers at a gas station! I don’t care! Just watch and cheer on la Albiceleste in hopes of taking home our fourth World Cup!! SEE YOU AT THE OBELISCO, PASE LO QUE PASE <3 <3 <3 <3
878 and Café San Bernardo in Villa Crespo; Roma del Abasto; La Fuerza in Chacarita; la Tribu Mostra and Feliza in Almagro; Plaza Seeber in Palermo; Cucha del Pari in la Paternal; Strange Brewing in Colegiales/Chacarita; Gibraltar in San Telmo; and Vereda Adentro in Coghlan

Friends stick together! Skip lunch so you can make room for the Tony Wu, Cang Tin and Yakinilo pop up at Strange Brewing in Colegiales tonight! Curryfest promises a night of fab flavor, delicious craft beer, cool music, and people wearing head-to-toe Carhartt! See you there!
Did someone say bottomless brunch? Palermo’s Casa Dingo invites you to “made for mates,” a sharing-is-caring plan meant for two friends or more! Listen, you get: bottomless mimosas, bottomless Bloody Marys, unlimited filter coffee, and a brekky! If I were you I’d take the day off and get absolutely blasted, but you can also partake over the weekend if you have to be presentable at work on Monday!
Casa Cavia celebrates with Amigos en Casa! Tonight they’ve got a special set-up, where the head chef (Felix), pastry chef (Fabio), head somm (Delvis), and head bartender (Flavia) invites a friend or two to develop a dish, sweet treat, cocktail, and wine pairing. Think of it as the chicest cocktail party you’ll ever attend!
Happy weekend, babes! GO ARGENTINA FOREVER!!!!
Until next time,
Paige
